We have a philosophy at Summer at the Beach that any art is best seen either side of a cup of tea and a slice of cake. This year is no exception with two cafes honouring us during our three weekend run.
We are pleased to announce that THE GREAT NEPAL BOOK SWAP will be visiting the Barracks this year on the 15th and 16th of July
This year as part of our opening event on the 1st of July we are running two great workshops for all ages.
First up its paper plane making. Try your hand at building a Head Hunter, a Ninja or even a Swashbuckler and see if you can make it to the role of honor on our test track of destiny. 12-4pm
Next up is the Bike Bling workshop. Bored of those old two wheels? Bring your trusty velo to the Barracks and see if we can make it sparkle again. 2-4pm.
Summer at the Beach is very proud to announce we will be staging a screening of the wonderful and deeply moving film ‘Finding Family’ by double Bafta winning Cambridge film maker Oggi Tomic, on the 16 of July. Shot over the space of 2 month during 2012, this is the moving story of Oggi’s return to his native Bosnia, 27 years after being abandoned in an orphanage, to meet the mother and family he never knew.
This event will start at 16.00 in the Community Space at Waterbeach Barracks
Come and hear Waterbeach novelists, Penny Hancock and Guinevere Glasfurd, talk about how living and working in Waterbeach has influenced them and how art and the Fens continue to shape their writing.
The Beach Sessions, Waterbeach’s famous music promoters, are very exited to be presenting a special chilled out Beach Session ‘Music by the Runway’ on Sat 8th July. It will be from 1-4pm and feature some of the region’s best acoustic singer/ songwriters. More info to follow soon.
